Walmart will host a health fair in its parking lot Saturday, Aug. 2, to educate the public about its new pharmacy and other health-related matters.

Ashley Allen, a Walmart pharmacist who is assisting the store this month, said the fair will be from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Although the store will not be officially open until 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, the fair will be held in the parking lot just outside.

“It’s designed to let people know we’re here, and also help educate them about their health,” she said.
Walmart pharmacy staff will be offering blood-pressure screenings, Allen said. Staff members from the Bay Minette Walmart will offer vision screenings, as well.

Allen said that Walmart hopes perhaps a local law enforcement agency or fire department will be able to offer fingerprinting and children’s ID cards. She also hopes that an animal welfare agency may be able to host a pet adoption drive at the health fair.

Allen said the fair’s offerings are a work in progress, and the only way to know what will be offered is to come out to the event Saturday.
