A Perdido man was killed Friday morning in a crash in Santa Rosa County, Fla., according to information from the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to a media release, 23-year-old Robert Allen Spears died in a single-vehicle crash at approximately 4:27 a.m., on Florida State Route 87, just north of State Route 4.

Spears’ 2008 Ford Mustang was traveling northbound on State Route 87 when it left the east side of the roadway. It then traveled down the shoulder and collided with a guy-wire from a utility pole.

After hitting the wire, the vehicle rotated clockwise and collided with a large tree, before coming to a final rest.

According to the report, Spears was not wearing a seatbelt.
