An Atmore ministry will once again publicly show its thanks to local senior citizens later this month.

The Deliverance Ministry of Jesus Christ, located at 103 N. 2nd Ave., will host the seventh annual “Senior Appreciation Day” on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 6 p.m. Dr. Bernard Bishop Ministries is presenting the event.

“We want to show support back to the pillars of the community, who have paved the way for us to be here today,” Dr. Bernard Bishop said. “We do a lot of activities for the young people, and we wanted to do something special for our senior citizens as well.”

Bishop said there will be Bible trivia games and door prizes given away during the night. There will also be a special speaker who will show senior citizens some easy exercises they can do at home to stay in physical shape. Each senior who attends will also get a free gift basket or gift bag, Bishop said.

Bishop said that the event still needs businesses and other organizations to donate door prizes or gift basket items. Also, volunteers are still needed to be sure the event is a success.

Bishop said any non-perishable items can be donated for the gift baskets. For more information, to sponsor or to volunteer, call Bishop at (251) 577-1430 or Felicia Bishop at (251) 577-2635. All donations will be accepted up until the day of the event.
