Eight seniors from the Escambia Academy football team were recently selected to participate in the AISA All-Star Game.

The game will be Friday at 7 p.m. at the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.

The eight Cougars selected to participate with the West all-stars were Gordon Brooks, James Fuqua, Garrett Kirk, Trey McGhee, Garrett Nesmith, J.P. Sawyer, Nate Smith and Jamie Vaughan. EA head coach Hugh Fountain will also be a member of the coaching staff for the West all-stars.

“It’s a tremendous honor for our seniors,” Fountain said. “Obviously, you’d love for every one of your seniors to be named to the team, but I think these eight guys serve as great representatives of their class and their team.

“We’ve had all-stars named to the team in previous years, but I don’t think we’ve ever had as many as this.”

The eight EA seniors were members of the 2014 AISA Class AAA state championship Cougars.
