Stalking case dismissed

The stalking case against a 27-year-old Atmore man was recently dismissed in Escambia County District Court.
On Thursday, Jan. 22, Jacob Eugene Dinkins of Estate Lane was arrested and charged with stalking I and violation of probation. Dinkins was accused of calling and text messaging a female victim, and following her to her job and residence.

In a preliminary hearing held Tuesday, Feb. 17, in the courtroom of District Judge Jeffrey A. White, the state elected to not present any evidence and the case was dismissed.

“This cause coming on for preliminary hearing heretofore set by order of this Court, now comes the State of Alabama by its District Attorney and the Defendant, in person, attended by his counsel of record, and the Court having heard evidence of probable cause vel non and having understood and considered the same, it is hereby ORDERED and ADJUDGED as follows:

“The State elected not to present any evidence. Therefore, this cause is dismissed. Defendant and any sureties or any bail bond are discharged.”
