An Atmore woman is facing theft charges after video showed she stole a patio set off her employer’s front porch.

Jacqueline McMurray, 54, is charged with theft of property I following the May 1 incident, on U.S. Highway 31, Lambert said.

“The victim stated that Ms. McMurray was hired to do some remodeling work on a home, and that sometime after 3:30 p.m., video surveillance of the property captured the image of a black female removing an antique wrought-iron patio set from the front porch,” Lambert said.

McMurray was placed into the Escambia County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond; however, she will be transported to face charges in Baldwin County, Lambert said.

“This incident goes to prove how valuable a video security system can be,” he said. “Without this information, this crime may have gone unsolved.”
