Thanks for helping YMCA

Dear Editor,

I am writing this letter of thanks using the Advance as public forum, in order to be sure as many members of the Atmore and surrounding areas know what a great job so many citizens and companies have done to help sustain our local YMCA.

This will be an ongoing adventure for all of us who care about the “Y.” I write now to make a public and sincere thank you to United Bank in Atmore for all they have done in the past year and especially as the sponsor of the movie night, Friday night at Heritage Park.

As a YMCA staff member and a member of our community, I am very touched by this effort to bring our families together for another great movie at the park, but also appreciative of the use of the “food truck” to raise money for the YMCA at the same time. United Bank has given us many memorable family movie nights and furnished free refreshments. I admit that free refreshments are as big of a draw as the movie itself.

In this case however, I do hope many, many people will come purchase food and snacks and help support United Bank’s great idea to give proceeds of food sales to the YMCA. My heartfelt thanks to the entire bank staff for continuing to find fun ways to help us at the YMCA and bring the community together.

Maybe this will help all of us find creative and varied ways to support our “Y.”
