Chipley, Fla. outscored Northview 16-0 in the fourth quarter to win 30-14 tonight at CHS.

NHS head football coach Sid Wheatley said it was a tough loss, but reminded his players after the game that there is a whole lot of season left.

“I told them you’ve got to keep working,” Wheatley said. “There’s a lot to be playing for left in the year. There’s a lot still down the road.”

Chipley was able to punch the ball in to go ahead in the fourth, and then sealed the deal with a pick six.

CHS lead 14-7 at halftime and had all the momentum going into the break after NHS gave up a big scoring play.

“That, coupled with the fact that they start the half with the ball put a lot of pressure on our defense,” Wheatley said. “At times I thought our defense played well, but again we missed some tackles.”

Northview’s Luke Ward and Gavin Grant scored for the Chiefs tonight.

NHS hosts Vancleave, Miss. next week in regular season action.

In other action tonight, Escambia County fell 49-6 to Jackson.

The Blue Devils’ only score came when JQwan Thomas fell on a loose ball in the Aggie end zone during the second half.

“They dominated us,” ECHS head football coach Royce Young said. “They scored on the first play in the game.”

It was 35-0 at halftime, the coach said.

JHS started playing its junior varsity squad during the first half and for the rest of the game, Young said.

“We’ll just have to show up Monday and go to work again and find areas to improve,” he said.

The Blue Devils visit T.R. Miller in Brewton next week.
