EA ACT score one of highest in state

Escambia Academy board members are smiling because students at the Canoe school scored in the top percent of the ACT Test in 2015.

According to the school board, EA students averaged a composite score of 20.5 on the ACT. The state average is 18, according to PARCA Alabama.

The ACT is used to measure a student’s readiness for college.

PARCA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide objective, nonpartisan information that will lead to the improvement of state and local government in Alabama. Escambia County High School compiled a composite score of 15, according to PARCA’s website.

Compared to other schools on the list, EA ranks with Fairhope high School and Spanish Fort with a composite score of 21.

T.R. Miller scored a 20, Flomaton scored a 19 and W.S. Neal scored a 17.
