ECHS girls fall 8-0 to Jackson last week

The Escambia County Lady Blue Devils dropped their Class 5A, Area 2 season opener last week to Jackson.

ECHS fell 8-0 on Tuesday.

Lady Blue Devils coach Brian McGuire said there were a couple of situations where the team has bases loaded.

“We needed those clutch hits,” he said. “We didn’t get them.”

McGuire said even though the team is 2-7 on the season, the girls are still working hard to improve.

“We need to clean up those defensive mistakes,” he said. “There’ve been too many.”

McGuire said before the Spring Break holiday, he talked with the girls about cleaning up those mental errors that they’re making.

“We’ve got to be ready to straighten that out when we come back,” he said.

In other action, the Lady Blue Devils fell 16-5 to J.U. Blacksher. The JV squad won, 10-7.

ECHS is back in action next Mon., April 4, at Baldwin County.
