Ada Lee McCreary

Mrs. Ada Lee McCreary, 77, passed away on Sat., April 9, 2016, in Atmore.

She was a native of Bedford, Ind., and a resident of Atmore for the past 38 years. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was of the Baptist Faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter McCreary.

She is survived by her two sons, Rodney (Jackie) Stewart of Perdido, and Brian (Terrie) McCreary of Atmore; one daughter, Debra (Bobby) Harrison of Atmore; one brother, Dick Cummings of Minnesota; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tues., April 12, 2016, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. J.T. Guyton serving as officiate.

Burial followed at the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Zack Stewart, Charles O’Barr, Tommy Crews, Cody Burroughs, Dakota O’Barr and Hunter Stewart.

Honorary pallbearers were Sara McCreary, Aundrea Gates and Kindle James.

Bobby Joe Frye

Funeral services for Mr. Bobby Joe Frye, 64, of Freeport, N.Y., formerly of Atmore, will be held Sat., April 16, 2016, at 1 p.m. from Saints with A Vision AF& M Church of God in Atmore with Elder Audrey America-Mayberry, pastor, officiating.

Inhumation will be in Fairview Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel LLC directing.

Gladys Hollinger Powell

Mrs. Gladys Hollinger Powell, 81, of Uriah, passed away on Sun., April 10, 2016, at her residence.

She lived most of her life in Uriah and was a 1953 graduate of J.U. Blacksher High School. Mrs. Powell was retired from Vanity Fair Mills. She was a member of Uriah United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Frederick Hollinger and Della Holder Hollinger; one son, Tim Powell; and two brothers, Frederick Hollinger and Gladden Hollinger.

She is survived by her husband, Vertice Powell of Uriah; two sons, Allen Powell and Steve (Patricia) Powell, both of Uriah; one brother, Albert Hollinger of Uriah; one sister, Laura Grantham of Uriah; one daughter in law, Judy Powell of Uriah; two grandchildren, Steven (Lindsey) Powell and Jessie Powell; and one great-grandchild, Lakelynn Ikner.

Funeral services will be held today, Wed., April 13, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Uriah United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ed McKibben and the Rev. Diane Everett officiating. Interment will follow at Uriah Cemetery.

Irma Wall L. “Totsy” Dannalley

Irma Wall L. “Totsy” Dannelley, 79, of Atmore, passed away on Wed., March 23, 2016, in Atmore.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother; a retired seamstress employed by Vanity Fair Mills, born in Escambia County on Dec. 8, 1936, to the late William A. and Nola Lassitter Wall. She attended Booneville Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Dannelley; son in law, Steve Luker; granddaughter, Heather Luker; and brother, Edward Earl Wall.

She is survived by two daughters, Marilyn (Stanley) Singleton of Atmore and Reginia

(Wayne) Barrow of Pensacola, Fla.; four brothers, Gilbert Wall, Tom Wall and James Wall,

all of McCullough, and Raymond Wall of Nokomis; two sisters, Georgia Driskell of McCullough and Ruth Ann Tullis of Nokomis; two grandchildren, Amber Harrison and Steve Luker; two great-grandchildren, Jacob Luker and Alanna Johnson.

Graveside services were held Fri., March 25, 2016, in McCullough Cemetery, with the Rev. Jesse Wood serving as officiate. Interment followed in McCullough Cemetery.

Marguree H. Womack

Marguree H. Womack, 92, of Atmore, passed away on Sun., April 10, 2016, at her residence.

She was retired from Vanity Fair Mills as a sewing machine operator. She was born on March 12, 1924, in Monroe County to the late George Cobb and Lula Belle Powell Hughes.

She was a Member of Enon Baptist Church of Goodway.

She is preceded in death by her husband, R.B. Womack; one infant brother; and one sister, Nettie Lou Lilley.

Survivors are one son, James D. (Rosemary) Womack of Atmore; one daughter, Margie Ann (Mitchell) Harrison of Goodway; one brother, Collie Ray “Bo” Hughes of Cantonment, Fla.; grandchildren, Anita Harrison, Genie Morrison, Teresa Nichols, Michelle Firzhugn and Paula Daniel; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and one on the way.

Services were held Tues., April 12, 2016, from the Enon Baptist Church of Goodway with the Rev. C.L. Langford serving as officiate. Interment followed in Enon Baptist Church Cemetery. Active Pallbearers were Steven Morris Jr., Paul Morrison, Jay Nichols, Randall Daniel, Ryan Daniel, Craig Fitzhugh, Ryan Hames, Alden Harrison and Britton Morris.

Honorary pallbearers were her Sunday School Class.

Richard Odell Thornton Sr.

Mr. Richard Odell Thornton Sr., 82, passed away on Fri., April 8, 2016, in Byrneville, Fla.

Mr. Thornton was a native of McCall, Ala., and a resident of Byrneville since 1973. He is preceded in death by his mother, Julia Graves.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Edna Thornton of Byrneville; one son, Richard (Lena) Thornton, Jr. of Pace, Fla.; three daughters, Peggy Sue Settle of Spartanburg, S.C., Johnnie Elizabeth Thornton of Tulsa, Okla. and Diane (John) de Jarnette of Byrneville; two brothers, Earl Thornton of Castleberry and Charles “Shug” Thornton of McCullough; three sisters, Nadene Orlik of San Antonio, Texas, Betty Ann Lord of Pineville, K.Y. and Johnnie Faye Burks of Crawford, Texas; nine grandchildren, Ricky, Samantha, Jessica, Nikki, Shawn, Clay, Ricky Derik, Kaley Jo and Briley; and four great-grandchildren, Keagan, Kimber, Kellen and Brielyn.

Funeral services were held Sat., April 9, 2016, at the Byrneville Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Barrow who served as officiate.

Burial followed at the Byrneville Methodist Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Clay Helton, Jr., Richard Thornton II, Ricky Derik Cofield, Eric Jumper, Matt Lane, Randy Murph and Jimmy Hoang.

Honorary pallbearers were Gene Wiggins, Buck Kelly, Don Hargrove, Kenny Powell and Clinton McMurray.

Thomas “Tommy” Hugh Stallworth Jr.

Thomas “Tommy” Hugh Stallworth, Jr., 79, of Atmore, passed away on Sat., April 9, 2016, at his residence.

He was born on Sept. 1, 1936, to the late Thomas Hugh and Julia Manar Stallworth in Atmore. He was a graduate of Marion Military Institute and attended the University of Alabama. He worked in the oil and gas industry for many years, and was employed by Reed Rock and Bit Company of New Orleans, La. After retirement, he worked for Williamson Realty in Atmore.

He is preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Stallworth Maxwell and Barbara Stallworth King.

Survivors are one sister, Julia Stallworth (Keith) King of Mobile; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held today, Wed., April 13, 2016, at 10 a.m. in Oak Hill Cemetery with Dr. Debora Bishop officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
