Officials with the city of Atmore and the industrial development board will meet Thursday morning concerning an industrial project in the Rivercane Industrial Park development.

The city council will hold a special-called meeting at 10 a.m. at city hall to act on the project. Then, the meeting of the development board will follow.

Previously, the city of Atmore received notification that it had received grant funding for infrastructure improvements in the industrial park. The meeting Thursday is expected to provide details to the community about a specific project in the park that will bring jobs to the area, according to a Coastal Gateway press release.

The Rivercane Development is a 740-acre mixed-use development, located on Highway 21, more than 4 miles north of Atmore at Interstate 65, Exit 57.

The industrial park covers more than 200 acres on the northwest corner of the junction. The site is in the process of seeking AdvantageSite certification from the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama, a designation awarded to only a select number of industrial and commercial sites across the state.
