The 13th annual Taste of the South in Atmore was a wonderful success, organizers said.

Last Thursday, quite a few people turned out for the event, which was held at Heritage Park. Twenty-three vendors circled the concrete interior of the park, giving small tastes of their food fair.

“It was wonderful,” Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Sheryl Vickery said. “I thank everyone who participated and those who made the event a success.”

Vickery said the event helped sell approximately 725 tickets. Each ticket gave tasters five samples with one voter’s ticket. A voter’s ticket went to the vendor with the best tasting food.

Winners of the 2016 edition of Taste of the South include:

• Atmore Lions Club — Best Taste Amateur;

• Atmore Community Hospital — Best Decorated Booth;

• David’s Catfish — Best Taste Professional; and,

• Lacy’s Photography — Best Taste Dessert.
