During the third quarter, Bradley ran the ball for a 46-yard gain to help Ja’Maya Frye punch the ball in from 9 yards to give the Blue Devils a 12-8 advantage. MCHS returned a fumble 88 yards for a score less than a minute prior.

In the fourth quarter, Xavier Lymon scored on a 42-yard with 8:59 left, and Malik Brown topped the cake with another touchdown with 17.9 seconds left.

ECHS head football coach Rico Jackson said the boys played hard, and gave kudos to the defense.

“The defense played another great game,” Jackson said. “They didn’t give up any points.”
Indeed the Blue Devils’ defense played a stellar game. The defensive front penetrated the Tigers’ offensive line, which gave ECHS the chance to apply pressure on the quarterback as he was sacked several times.

On the offensive side of the ball, the Blue Devils stuck to the ground game, their bread and butter.

Jackson said they did well in spurts.

“We’ve just got to continue to get better week by week,” he said.

With this victory, ECHS improves to 2-1 overall, and 1-1 in Class 4A, Region 1.

The Blue Devils face off against No. 4 Andalusia next week at home. The Bulldogs defeated UMS-Wright 27-21 in overtime tonight.
