Murder-suicide at Dirt Cheap
|
Two people were shot and killed as gunfire rang out inside the Atmore Dirt Cheap Friday morning.
Investigators at the scene of the shooting, which occurred at 11 a.m., are calling the incident a murder-suicide.
"We're trying to sort things out right now," Escambia County Sheriff's Office chief deputy John Gleaton said at the scene. "We will be working with the Atmore Police Department during the investigation."
The victims, a female and a male employee at the store who were also dating, were both pronounced dead at the scene upon arrival of rescue personnel with both Atmore Ambulance and Kelley's Ambulance Service.
According to Emmanuel Banks, who played football at Escambia County High School with the shooter, whom he identified as 22-year-old Justin Clark, said the shooting was part of an ongoing domestic dispute. The victim was identified as 21-year-old, mother of two, Shardae Arnold by her uncle, Charles Johnson, who was at the scene.
Investigators with the Atmore Police Department, Escambia County Sheriff's Office and the 21st Circuit Judicial Drug Task Force continue this afternoon to process the crime scene.

" This so sad, if he did not want to live , he should have taken his life instead the life of a mother,a daughter, and friend. My prayers goes out to both familes and her kids. May God Bless You. Love and Peace the Johnson Family "

" We appreciate the concern of the media but these facts are untrue. She was our "20 year old" best friend, a loving motherof two and a dedicated employee but he was not. She was working that day from 9a-8p when she was taken from us. There was a dispute earlier that morning around 2 or so where the alleged threatened her life and nothing was done about it but the return of her phone, a cell phone that's all! We love her dearly and miss her dearly and would appreciate yours prayers for the family but not the lies. "

" My prayers are with both familes. This is a tragic, and it's hitting to close to home. We as a whole, need to open our eyes and hearts to those who are crying out for help, all the if's are too late. Two love ones are gone at an early age. We need to pray for a change, because that's what it's going to take. One nation under God. "

" As we would say, a sad moment but ONLY GOD knows the truth and the reasons. We as a whole need to start loving each other and be a sister and/or brother to the next man. You never know what someone is going through til it is to late. Stretch your arms as God will do for you. May God be w/ the two kids and both families. Prayers going out to both families. "

" I encourage the families of both loved ones to be encouraged and know that Jesus will give them strength through this sad situation and to fault no one. There are alot of families and close friends suffering and now is the time that everyone needs to come together. Just remember them both as they should be remembered for the sake of their beautiful children. I pray that all be blessed during their hard time of sorrow. "
