Jackie Barnhill evangelizes


Jackie Barnhill has been all over the Midwest preaching the Lord's word as an evangelist. Here she sits reading her favorite book, the Bible.

(This week The Atmore Advance visited with 67-year-old Jackie Barnhill at the Atmore SAIL Center.)

Q: When and where were you born?

A: July 16, 1942 in Robinsonville.

Q: Who were your parents?


A: Waymon and Esther Morrison.

Q: What did your parents do for a living?

A: My daddy worked for Swift Lumber Company for 39 years. My mother was a homemaker.

Q: Do you have any brothers or sisters?

A: I have five brothers. Four are living and one is deceased. I also have three sisters with two alive and one deceased.

Q: Where did you attend school?

A: I attended school at ECHS.

Q: Do you do a lot of traveling?

A: A good bit. I have been to Arkansas, Oklahoma, Mississippi and Missouri

Q: If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?

A: Texas. I have always wanted to visit the Alamo.

Q: Where did you work?

A: I was an evangelist with my husband.

Q: Where have you lived?

A: I have lived in Atmore and also in Mobile where my husband worked.

Q: What do you like most about Atmore?

A: It’s home. All my family and friends are here.

Q: Did you ever marry? If so, what is your spouse’s name?

A: Yes. My husbands name was Luther Barnhill.

Q: How did you and your spouse meet?

A: He was a friend of my sisters and she said he wanted to meet me.

Q: How many children do you have?

A: Five boys. Wyatt, William, Steve, Hank and Perry Leon Barnhill.

Q: Do you have any grandchildren?

A: 19. My daughter-in-law just had my most recent, Luke.

Q: Where do you attend church?

A: I do a lot of evangelizing and visit several area churches.

Q: If you are not at the SAIL Center, what else might you be doing?

A: I might be reading religious material or visiting with friends. I hate staying home alone.

Q: What is your favorite TV show?

A: I watch TBN.

Q: What has been the most important event during your lifetime?

A: The Vietnam War.

Q: What are you passionate about?

A: The Lord and his word.
