Forecasts of inclement weather may have kept some people away, but the 29th Poarch Creek Indian Intertribal Pow Wow still boasted an attendance of about 7,000 over the two-day event.
The Thursday crowd started slow, but picked up. Attendance was good from 11 to 2 when the Grand Entry started. That's also when the rain started. The rain turned out to be short-lived but a lot of people had already left when it quit.
But Friday was different story.
Not only did those attending the Pow Wow have a good time, so did the folks with items to sell.
The church-sponsored food vendors pretty much sold out over the two days, McGhee said. The arts and crafts vendors also reported good sales.
Hillary Rolin was the only Poarch tribal member who placed in the dance competition. She took third place in the girls traditional dance.
In the princess contest, Karla Martin was named Senior Princess, with Natasha McGhee as first runner up and Jessica Dortch as second runner up.
Kaci Martin took the Junior Princess title. Shelly White was runner up.
The Elementary Princess was Heather White, with Jenni Hall as runner up.
