Mr. Edward Lee Ford, 56, of Walnut Hill, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999, at his residence. Mr. Ford was a native of Mobile and was a retired chef from Jackie's Restaurant in Atmore.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Redmond Ford of Walnut Hill; six daughters, Michelle Darling of Newark, N.J, Stephanie Moss of Birmingham, Sharon Ware of Missis-sippi, Robbins Tolliver of Canton-ment, and Yurmonicke Hale and Shivoyer English, both of Walnut Hill; five sons, Larry English of Walnut Hill, Kennedy Kirk of New Orleans, La., Pierre Ladd, Frederick Bonner and Demetrius Ware, all of Mobile; his mother, Edna K. Ford of Mobile; his father, Lee Ford of Mobile; seven sisters, Liza Smith, Carolyn Ware, Phyllis Barnes, Mary Watkins, Martha McGinnsey and Sally Rooks, all of Mobile; two brothers, Grady Ford of Korea and Walter Ford of Mobile; and 16 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Baptist Church in Walnut Hill with Elder Raymond C. Redmond officiating. Burial was at St. Paul Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were friends and family. Turner Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Martin Mason Fuqua, 76, of Evergreen, La., died Monday, Nov. 29, 1999, in Christus St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, La. He was a retired electrician and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers – Local #576.
He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia; a daughter, Janet Dugas; three brothers; and three sisters. Mr. Fuqua is survived by two sons, Robert Fuqua of Baton Rouge, La., and Alvin Fuqua of Lake Charles, La.; two daughters, Theresa Deprato of Baton Rouge and Nona Henagan of Evergreen; a brother, Herman Fuqua of Brewton; three sisters, Julia Lee Neese of Brewton, Frances Lorena Irwin of Lexington, S.C., and Beatrice Cook of Walnut Hill; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Melancon in Bunkie, La. Burial was in Bayou Rouge Cemetery in Evergreen.
Mr. Kenner Harry Gibson, 92, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 1999, in Jay. Mr. Gibson was a lifelong resident of Walnut Hill and was a retired carpenter.
He is survived by a brother, William Edward Gibson of Walnut Hill; a sister, Charlaine Joiner of Cantonment; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, at 10 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ladon Hall and the Rev. Robert Thrower officiating. Burial was at Walnut Hill Baptist Cemetery.
Mr. Edward Cecil Kimmons, 68, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 1999, at a local hospital. Mr. Kimmons was a resident of Walnut Hill for the past 55 years, a member of the Protestant church and a veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Delois J. Kimmons of Davisville; two sons, Anthony Kimmons and his wife Pam of Brookhaven, Miss., and Von Kimmons and his wife Earlene of Davisville; two brothers, Talbert Kimmons of Eureka Landing, Ala., and Raymond Kimmons of Davisville; four sisters, Mary Garrett and Gladys Smith, both of Seminole, Katie Lee of Denver, Colo., and Annie Ruth Hall of Davisville; and five grandsons, Ben Nathan, Reuben, Levon and Eli Kimmons.
Graveside services were held Monday, Nov. 29, at 10:30 a.m. at Dry Springs Cemetery with the Rev. John Young officiating.
Pallbearers were Roy Foster, Rodney Brown, Lonnie Morgan, Doug Allen, Bob Gibbs and Otis "Jim" Joiner.
Ms. Clarreese Delores Witcher, 66, died Friday, Nov. 26, 1999, in Providence Hospital in Mobile. She was a resident of Atmore and native of Monroe County.
Ms. Witcher was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Bell Parker; her father, Dan Parker; three sisters, Mattie Lee Parker, Mary Lee King and Lillie Ree Douglas; and a brother, Burdis Parker.
She is survived by three daughters, Marreese Jones and her husband Bobby, Angela Johnson and her husband Carnell and Brettschneider Staples and her husband Farrell, all of Atmore; an adopted son, Robert McCall of Atmore; two sisters, Dorothy Lee and Dannie Andrews and her husband William, all of Uriah; two brothers, U.D. Parker and his wife Mable and Dan Parker and his wife Kathy, all of Chicago, Ill.; a special devoted friend, Alexander Davison of Atmore; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 4, at 2:30 p.m. at Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church in Atmore with Dr. A.L. Durant Sr. officiating. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery.
