The Escambia County Blue Devils allowed just 41 points in two games last weekend, posting back-to-back blowouts over Frisco City and Gulf Shores.
On Friday night, the Blue Devils started slowly, leading Frisco City just 10-6 after the first period. But they turned up the heat in the second period, outscoring the Whippets 22-2 for a 32-8 halftime lead.
ECHS went to its bench in the second half and coasted to a 49-28 victory.
Terrell McNeil led all scorers in the game with 16 points. He was followed by Anthony McCants with seven points; Damien Robinson, Steven Moore and Terrence McNeil with six each; Michael Baldwin and Billy Pettway with three apiece; and Levia Hubert with two.
The Blue Devils dominated the game statistically, winning the rebounding war 35-17 behind Robinson's seven boards and also shooting 48 percent while holding Frisco City to a 38 percent rate.
But the real blowout came Saturday night when ECHS, despite playing its subs for two and a half quarters, rolled to a 60-13 win over Gulf Shores.
The Blue Devils opened the game with a 16-2 run, then went to their bench in the second quarter and took a 24-10 lead into the dressing room at the half.
Gulf Shores was held scoreless in the third quarter as ECHS emptied its bench again midway through the period, and the visitors managed just three points in the fourth quarter. The Blue Devils outscored Gulf Shores 36-3 in the second half.
Gulf Shores shot just 20 percent from the field and committed 32 turnovers while ECHS shot 47 percent and had just six turnovers.
Terrence McNeil led all scorers with 17 points for ECHS. Terrell McNeil and McCants contributed eight each; Baldwin had six; Zack Harris and Jonathan Brown had five each; Hubert and Ricky Craft had three each; Pettway and Moore had two each; and Robinson had one.
ECHS improved to 19-6 with the wins and was scheduled to face T.R. Miller on Tuesday. The Blue Devils will close out the regular season with two home games this weekend. They will host W.S. Neal on Friday and will play a make-up game against Hillcrest-Evergreen on Saturday.
