Atmore will host a county-wide Jobs Fair Friday – the first of its kind in Escambia County.
The project is a joint effort of South Alabama Regional Planning Commission, the Escambia County Commission, the City of Atmore and the Escambia County Industrial Development Authority.
Representatives from 21 area companies will be on hand to discuss employment opportunities and conduct interviews.
Voncille Thomas, director of employment with SARPC, said the agency expects about 500 people.
The Jobs Fair is good for employees who wish to find work or change jobs, but it's also good for the companies that participate.
Participating businesses include: Touch One Communications, United States Coast Guard, United Bank, Alto Products, Creek Indian Enterprises, Pepsi Cola Bottling Co., The Atmore Advance and The Brewton Standard, United States Army Recruiting, Standard Furniture Manufacturing, Navy Recruiting District, Alltel Communications, Vanity Fair, RSVP Escambia County, Escambia County Industrial Development Authority, Area Agency on Aging, SARPC Senior Employment, SARPC Revolving Loan, JTPA, Alabama Career Center System, State Employment Service, Alabama National Guard.
The Jobs Fair will begin at 9 a.m., Friday, at the Lions Community Center.
