John Hicks

Mr. John Hicks, 66, died Monday, August 7, 2000, in West Florida Hospital.
Mr. Hicks was a lifelong resident of Century and a member of Greater union Missionary Baptist Church. He was a nine year U. S. Air Force veteran and retired from Monsanto.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Carl Hicks.
Mr. Hicks is survived by his wife, Mrs. Irma Hicks of Century; his mother, Gladys Hicks of Century; two sons Kenneth Hicks and Kerry Hicks, both of Century; five daughters, Ariel Watts of Seattle, Wash., Janice Moore and her husband, Robert, Gloria Hicks, Carolyn Hicks and Melissa Dixon and her husband, Leonard, all of Century; a brother, Pete Hicks and his wife, Alberta, of Boston, Mass.; four sisters, Betty of Boston, Barbara Ries and her husband, George, Rose Helen and Debra, all of Century; a sister-in-law, Juanita Lett of Brooklyn, N.Y.; three brothers-in-law, Eddie Washam and his wife, Fannie, of Mobile and Eddie and John Stallworth, both of Century; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, August 11 at 11 a.m. at Greater Union Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Henderson Powell, Jr. officiating.
Burial was at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola.
Robinson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
