The high school side of Escambia Academy has only one new teacher this year.
Heath Gibson has joined the ranks as social studies and physical education teacher and football coach.
Headmaster Judy Branum said she's impressed with Gibson's work ethic.
Gibson attended Jefferson Davis Community College and graduated from Auburn University at Montgomery.
This is his first teaching job.
One is his classes is elementary PE.
Gibson said he always wanted to be a teacher and coach. He played football in high school and baseball at JDCC and AUM.
He and his wife Leah live in Brewton where she is a social worker with the Department of Human Resources.
