Republicans were rallying the troops this week in Atmore.
Area Republicans held a fund-raiser at Gerlach's Restaurant Monday night. The event was designed to give area Republicans a opportunity to meet local, state and national political candidates.
Speaking to a group of about 75 area Republicans were several candidates from around the state including: Senator Albert Lipscomb, Representative Steve McMillan, Judge Lyn Stuart, Judge Tom Woodall, Charles Jackson and David Bagwell.
Bagwell, from Bay Minette, is hoping for a congressional appointment to the 11th Circuit Court in Atlanta.
Stuart, an Atmore native, is running for one of the five open spots on the Alabama Supreme Court.
Tom Woodall is also running for another open seat on the state supreme court.
Woodall encouraged all Republicans to support the effort to place Republican candidates in the five open positions.
Jackson addressed the crowd and said he is excited about the momentum being built by Republicans in Escambia County.
He said he is excited about the possibility of serving Escambia County as probate judge.
Area Republicans are planning another rally in Atmore on October 19 at the Lions Community Center.
Watson said plans for the event will be confirmed later this month.
