Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Harris, 73, died Friday, September 29, 2000, in Thomas Hospital in Fairhope.
She was a lifelong resident of Latham, member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church and former member of Stone Deliverance Temple Church. She served on the usher board and was a home sitter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank E. and Addie Hall Gray and her husband, Lonnie J. Harris.
Mrs. Harris is survived by two daughters, Christine Harris-Gray of Newark, N.J. and Denise K. Harris of Phoenix, Az.; three sisters, Annissa Shuler of Bay Minette, Virginia Grant of Mobile and Sharon Pearson of Missouri, Texas; nine brothers, Willie Gray of San Diego, Calif., Robert Gray, George Gray and Frank Gray, all of Bay Minette, Jesse Gray of Severn, Md., Tom Gray and Jeffery Gray, both of Latham, Curtis Gray of Panama City and Joseph Gray of Portsmouth, Va.; two uncles, Rollie Calhoun of Orlando, Fla. and James Calhoun of Century; devoted step-mother, Georgia V. Smith of Latham; two aunts, Mabel Thomas of Brewton and Rose Marie of Maryland; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 5 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Latham. Funeral services will follow with the Rev. Charles Washington Jr. officiating.
Burial will be at Latham Community Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Robert Gray, George Gray, Frank Gray Jr., Jesse Gray, Curtis Gray and Jeffery Gray. Honorary pallbearers will be Willie Gray, Tom Gray and Joseph Gray.
Turner Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
