Mr. Leonard McGhee, 89, of Atmore died Friday March 2, 2001, in Atmore.
He was retired from Escambia County Road Department as a truck driver and was a Deacon and member of Poarch Baptist church.
Mr. McGhee was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Mamie Rolin McGhee.
He is survived by his wife, Erdeal P. McGhee of Atmore; six sons, Hollis McGhee of Atmore, Murphy McGhee of Pensacola, Larry Maddox of Excel, Jerry Maddox of Atmore, Andy Maddox of Elgin, Ill. and Leonard McGhee Jr. of Baltimore, Md.; five daughters, Margaret Owens of Pensacola, Clemmie McGhee of Fort Walton, Norma Arnette of Pensacola, JoAnn Rawls of Atmore and Marilyn Bohm of Elgin, Ill. ; two brothers, Ebb McGhee of Tuscumbia and Otis McGhee of Poarch; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 5, at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Leo Luker Jr. and Bro. James Ivey officiating.
Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Stuart Maddox, Sean Rawls, David Maddox, Brian McGhee, Wayne Rolin, Ronny Rolin and Timmy Ramer. Honorary pallbearers were LeRoy Tullis, Charles Comer, John Garrard and David Lambert.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Inc. was in charge of arrangements.
