Mrs. Avis P. Rachel, 86, of Atmore, died Saturday, April 28, 2001, in Atmore.
Mrs. Rachel was retired from sales at Anderson Department Store. She was a member of Presley Street Baptist Church for 51 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andy Bell Rachel and her parents, Jefthro and Corla Ann Sorrells Palmer.
Mrs. Rachel is survived by three daughters, Elosie Godwin of Pensacola, Barbara Turberville and her husband, James, of Atmore and Marion Boutwell and her husband, William, of Milton and a sister, Ruby Howton of Fayette.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 30 at 2 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jimmy Dukes officiating.
Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Ricky Christain, Darrell Christain, Lloyd Palmer, David Christain, Raymond Kimmons, James Burkett, Danny Hall, and Danny Lowery.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Inc. was in charge of arrangements.
