Northview's senior football dynamo Eric Jefferson has been selected to play in Australia's Down Under Bowl this summer.
The Down Under Bowl is an all-star football game with high school seniors from all over the world being selected to participate. Jefferson, a 270-lb. defensive tackle who currently holds the Chiefs' rushing record, sees the Down Under Bowl as a "perfect opportunity to hopefully make it to the pros."
Jefferson is wishing to mirror the football playing history of his cousin, Anthony Pleasant, who plays for the New York Jets. "My cousin has inspired me a lot," said Jefferson. "He works hard, stays focused, and is determined to be noticed."
Obviously those same ideas have paid off for Jefferson. Northview's head football coach, David Williams, recommended Jefferson for this honor during the fall of the school year based on Jefferson's skill and determination.
With every privilege comes a responsibility, however, and Jefferson and his mother, Sherita Jefferson, are working diligently to come up with the funds for the honor.
Northview High School and the town of Century may certainly add another football great to its extensive list of talented athletes, such as Anthony Pleasant and Buck Showalter. Century has also had an outstanding list of college athletes as well.
