The Escambia Academy track team finished the spring season with its best showing in more than three years at the Alabama Senior High State Meet.
Even though all but two of the team members are junior high age, six team members qualified for the finals. Shelby Hester finished eighth place in the state in girls discus and Matthew Rice took sixth place in boys triple jump.
The girls mile relay team of Meagan Adams, Morgan Dorriety, Megan Channell, Terri Bumann and alternate, Brittany Coffey finished eighth.
Other good performances included Rayleen Miller in the girls one-mile run and Matt Ash in the boys two-mile run.
The meet was the last of ten in which the Cougars participated this spring.
Bert Rice, the Cougar's coach, said he expects good things for the future of EA's track team.
