To the editor:
No we didn't forget. We remembered those who gave their ultimate sacrifice so we could enjoy our freedom.
I would like to thank the Northview JROTC, Escambia High School Band, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Auxiliary, and the many veterans who participated (in this year's Memorial Day events). We were very proud to see some citizens of Atmore along the parade route and wish more people would realize what the day meant.
Thanks to the city employees who were involved. Special thanks to Mayor Howard Shell who cut his 50th wedding anniversary short so he could be a part of it. To The Atmore Advance personnel, we tip our hat to you. You are always there to support us in any project we are involved in. Thanks to Commander Lee Martin of the VFW for working out all the details.
Maybe next time more people in Atmore will turn out to show their appreciation for those fallen veterans.
