Magnolias end Thoroughbred winning streak

The First National Bank Magnolias scored four runs in the fifth and then stopped a comeback rally by the Brantley's Tires Thoroughbred in the bottom of the sixth to end their winning streak, 6-4, in girls' 10-and-under softball on May 29.
The Thoroughbreds took an early lead after Michaela Norman and Shaqnandia Gray scored in the first and second innings, respectively.
The Magnolias' Courtney English and Shawna McGhee scored in the top of the fourth to tie the game at 2-2.
In the fifth, the Magnolias took a 6-2 lead as Tori Rodriquez, McGhee, Ashleigh Taylor and Amber Hubert each scored.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Breds Norman and Emily Moore scored to cut the lead to two, 6-4.
The Magnolias earned the victory after getting two groundballs to end the game.
Magnolias 16, Mighty Macs 10
The First National Bank Magnolias claimed another win earlier in the week as they defeated the McDonald's Mighty Macs, 16-10, on May 28.
Leading the offense for the Magnolias were Courtney English and Ashleigh Taylor with four runs each. Tori Rodriquez and Shawna McGhee scored two runs each. Sara Beth Davis, Brittany Holland, Hillary Byrd and Nashiquille Dale also scored.
Leading the Might Mac's offensive attack was Emily Vickrey with three runs. Canausha Crenshaw, Leslie Cummings and Jordan Jaye scored two times each and Morgan Helton chipped in with one run.
Thoroughbreds 14, Balers 8
Before their defeat to the Magnolias, the Brantley Tire Thoroughbreds had kept their perfect record alive with a 14-8 victory over the Hendrix Tractor Balers on May 28.
Leading the Bred offense were Kay Leigh Miller and Michaela Norman with three runs each. Emily Moore and Minikai Smith each scored two runs. Sierra Redmond, Tamekia Boggan, Victoria Mauldin and Amber McMillan also scored.
April Garvin led the Balers' offense with three runs. Kaysie Malone scored two runs while Tieka North, Kayla Gunn and Tabitha Steege scored one run each.
