The Atmore Utilities Department is experiencing an unusual problem and is asking for the public's assistance in solving it.
Manager Tom Wolfe reported Monday that some individuals who have tanker trucks are hooking up to city fire hydrants and filling their tankers with water.
For whatever reason, the people taking the water are breaking the law.
The problem for city water customers is not that the city will run short of water but that the quality of water will be temporarily affected.
Wolfe asks that anyone who sees someone filling a tanker with water call the utilities department at 368-2207 or the fire department after hours, 368-9156.
