Cheryl Carter Montgomery, 34, died Friday. June 1, 2001, in the VA Hospital in Montgomery.
She was a native of Atmore, and resident of Montgomery. She was a graduate of Escambia County High School and attended Alabama State University. Later she worked for Escambia County as a teacher's aide. She eneterd the U. S. Army in 1993.
Mrs. Montgomery is survived by her parents, John H. and Iris Carter, Sr. of Atmore; her husband, Elbert Montgomery Jr.; a son, Reginald Roberts of Montgomery; a step-son, Tomorian Montgomery of Chattanooga, Tenn.; a sister, Lolita R. Fields and her husband Ronald, of Montgomery; a brother, John H. Carter Jr. and his wife, Natarshawa, of Atmore; her mother-in-law, Lois Sutton; step-mother-in-law, Angela Montgomery; three sisters-in-law, Tomeka Joseph, Tiffany Montgomery and Camille Montgomery; two brothers-in-law, Lorenzo Montgomery and Marcus Montgomery, both of Montgomery, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
Funeral serrvices were held Wednesday, June 6 at 2 p.m., at Phillips Riley Funeral Home in Montgomery with the Rev. Willis R. Walker II officiating.
Burial was at Forest Hills Memorial Park.
Phillips-Riley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
