Atmore hosts Babe Ruth tournaments

Atmore All-Star teams are poised for the district tournaments and the City of Atmore is set to welcome several teams as they will host two district tourneys this week.
While the 13-year-old All-Stars began tournament play last week, the 14- and 15-year-olds began play last night at Tom Byrne Park.
In all, seven different teams will be visiting Atmore during these tournaments. The 14-year-olds will play through July 8, while the 15-year-olds will have a district champion on July 9.
The 13-year-olds traveled to Monroeville last week to participate in the district tourney. Following are the results from their games.
Atmore 12, Brewton 5
In the first game of the tourney, the Atmore All-Stars defeated Brewton, 12-5.
Chris Andrews led the Atmore squad with four runs. Charles Dailey and Michael McAnally scored two runs each. John Brantley, Matt Reynolds, Miller McCaster and Brandon Arnold also scored.
Arnold, who started the game on the mound for Atmore, held Brewton scoreless through four innings. Brandon Sanspree and Kevin Green also saw time on the mound.
Atmore 6, Monroeville 4
On June 30, Atmore claimed its second victory as they defeated Monroeville, 6-4.
Andrews, McAnally, Reynolds, Darius English, McCaster and Bruce Smith scored for Atmore.
McCaster earned a complete game and earned the victory on the mound. He struck out nine Monroeville batters.
Atmore 7, South Monroe 6
Atmore scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to keep its tournament winning streak alive, giving them an advantage heading into the second week of the tournament.
McCaster and Dailey led Atmore with two runs each. Reynolds, Jeffrey Taylor and Arnold also scored.
Arnold earned a complete game for the 13-year-olds and was awarded the victory. He struck out four batters.
