Country music star Lila McCann visited the Poarch Creek Reservation Tuesday afternoon.
When PCI employee Roy Shivers learned that McCann was going to be in concert in Mobile Tuesday, he emailed her and asked if she would like to stop by for a visit.
McGhee and Shivers got confirmation about 5 p.m., Friday, that McCann would definitely visit the tribe Tuesday. However, her time was limited to about an hour.
The rain apparently didn't dampen anyone's spirits, however. There was gospel music, intertribal dancing and stomp dancing.
There was an honor dance for McCann and she danced also. During this dance, tribal members greeted her and joined in the dance with her.
Representatives of the tribe presented her with gifts.
McCann's hits include "I Wanna Fall in Love," "Down Came a Blackbird," and "With You."
