Poarch set for explosive fourth

Tonight's Fourth of July community celebration kicks off at 7 p.m., hosted by Poarch Creek Indians.
Sponsors are Poarch Band of Creek Indians, Frontier Communications, Pepsi Bottling Co., Atmore Rotary Club, Alto Products, United Bank, Atmore Chamber of Commerce, Lamb's Dozier Service, Bateson's Furniture, Joey's Furniture, Vanity Fair, Church's Chicken, Johnson Ford, Diamond Oil Co., Sunbelt Chemicals, McMurphy Oil, Optical World, Escambia Lawn and Rental Center, Doc Sutton, Buck Powell, Atmore Ready Mix, Apple Barrel, State Line Pawn Shop, Maxwell, Haley and Castleberry Insurance, Robert R. Davis PC, Kmart, and The Atmore Advance. Supply and in-kind contributors are Marty's Furniture Co., Swift Supply, Pepsi Bottling Co., and End of the Line Agency.
To get to the celebration area, go out Jack Springs Road and turn by the Pow Wow Grounds (Lynn McGhee Drive). Police will be on hand to direct traffic. Volunteers who would like to help with parking cars are asked to report to the stage area about 5:30 p.m.
Anyone wishing to picnic or tailgate is invited to do so. Gehman reminds everyone to bring a lawn chair or blanket. Soft drinks will be available. No alcoholic beverages are allowed.
In case of rain, the Independence Day celebration will be held Friday, July 6, 7 p.m., at Poarch.
