Mr. Fred Brooks Sr., 73, died Saturday, July 28, 2001, at a local hospital.
He was a native of Goodway, past resident of Atmore and had been a resident of Monroeville for one year. He was a retired employee from Holman after 16 years. He belonged to the Fraternal Order of Police and was a member of the Goodway Church of Latter Day Saints.
Brooks was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Virginia Brooks; a daughter, Ada Marie Brooks; his parents, Sam and Elda Brooks; three brothers, Leonard Brooks, James Brooks and Lewis H. Brooks; a sister, Rosie Hardin; and four stepchildren, Ralph Williams, Edna Earl Pearson, Ernest Williams and Hank Williams.
He is survived by his son, Fred F. Brooks Jr., of Frisco City; his daughter, Francis Ann Phillips of Stapleton; his stepson, Johnny Williams of Bay Minette; three stepdaughters, Lois Stancliff of Bay Minette, Louise Watson of Atmore, and Dora Crutchfield of Loxley; three brothers, Heber C. Brooks Sr., of Molino, Sam Brooks of Frisco City, and Frank H. Brooks of Mobile; two sisters, Sybil V. Johnson of Goodway, and Liller Mae Johnson of Mobile; one grandchild; 10 step-grandchildren; 15 step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 31, 2001, 11 a.m., at Eastside Chapel, with Elder Alfred McKinley and Elder Marion Johnson officiating.
Burial was at Brooks' Cemetery.
Eastside Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
