Mrs. Idell Gray Smith of New Orleans, La., formerly of Atmore, died Saturday, August 18, 2001, in New Orleans.
She was a member of St. John Baptist Church in New Orleans.
Smith was preceded in death by her parents, Gilyard and Rena Gray; her husband, George Anderson Smith; a son, Winifred S. Edwards and a grandson, Roland Anderson.
She is survived by her children, Margaret S. Harrell, Inez Smith Powell, Patricia Gray Smith, Wendell Smith, Carlean T. Bowers and Lewhiska Smith; a sister, Francis Gray; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 25 at 10 a.m. at St. John Baptist Church with the Rev. G. R. Washington Sr. and the Rev. Gerald C. Brown officiating.
Burial was at Providence Memorial Park in New Orleans.
Estell J. Wilson Funeral Home in New Orleans was in charge of arrangements.
