To the editor:
I am writing this letter as a plea to all the citizens and families and companies in Atmore to support our local YMCA and their fund-raiser that is currently going on. We ought to be able to raise enough money in this town to have just as nice a facility as the likes of Brewton and Monroeville.
As a parent I will be forever grateful to Terri Godwin and her wonderful staff for giving my son the courage and support to excel in sports and in his Christian life. Parents, where would your children be if they could not go out and run on the soccer field or learn the basics of tee-ball. Or where could you safely send your child for the summer or even after school, knowing that he or she is not running the streets getting into trouble, but getting out and having fun with other children as well as learning at the same time?
This community went out and raised over $100,000 for the American Cancer Society, of which they ought to be extremely proud, but what about digging in and doing it again for something that will benefit you and your family and generations of children and families to come?
So, citizens of Atmore, please find it in your hearts and your pockets one more time, give generously to the YMCA fund drive. Let's put Atmore on the map with a beautiful building and lots of things to offer our future generations to come.
