Ms. Minnie Bell Carter, 57, died Monday, August 27, 2001, in D. W. McMillan Hospital.
She was a lifelong resident of Flomaton and member of Damascus Baptist church where she was a member of the senior choir. She worked at Vanity Fair and was a retired bus driver for Escambia County (Ala.) Board of Education. She attend The Pollard School and was a 1964 graduate of Southern Normal School in Brewton.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Hicks Pope and her father, E. L. Pleasant.
Mrs. Carter is survived by her husband, Willie J. Carter; six sisters, Dorothy Tim, Bettye Phifer and her husband, Thomas and Belinda Pleasant, all of Flomaton, Florence Lane of Havelock, N. C., Cathy Long and her husband, Kenneth, of Detroit, Mich., and Sherita Jefferson of Century; four brothers, Andrew Tim and Herman Pleasant, both of Flomaton, Michael Pleasant and his wife, Karen, of Dallas, Texas and Bradford Pleasant and his wife, Annie, of Pensacola; her step-mother, Rachel Pleasant of Flomaton; god-children, Kiesela Phifer and Adrienne Odom, both of Flomaton, Jessica Carter of Pensacola and Terrance Carter of Texas.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 1, at noon at Damascus Baptist Church with the Rev. Victor Archie officiating.
Burial was at Fannie- Damascus Cemetery.
Turner Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
