Mrs. Lucie Mae Cunningham-Black, 73, died Saturday, September 1, 2001, at Jay Hospital.
She was a native and resident of Century and member of Greater Union Missionary Baptist Church. She was vice-president of Missionaries Ministry, assistant superintendent of Sunday School Church, mother and assisting minister of the Deacon Wives Ministry, and teacher of the middle class Vacation Bible School. She was employed with Escambia County Alabama School System for 27 years.
She is survived by her husband, Mr. Richard Black of Century; a son, Master Sgt. Henry L. Cunningham; two daughters, Mrs. Rhonda B. Brown and Mrs. Willa D. Gee, both of Century; a son-in-law, Joseph Brown of Century; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert L. Cunningham of Milton; two adopted daughters, Bessie Lee Carter and Hillary T. Odom and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Septemeber 8 at 1 p.m. at Greater Union Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Henderson Powell Jr. officiating.
Burial was at Century Cemtery.
Active pallbearers were her grandsons and Jr. Deacons. Honorary pallbearers were Deacon Ministry. Flower bearers were her granddaughters, missionaries and Deacon wives.
