The local Red Cross chapter went on standby Tuesday as the morning's events unfolded.
Myrna Monroe, chairman of the local Red Cross chapter, said military calls are being processed as usual. Civilian calls regarding people in the New York and Washington areas will be processed in a couple of days.
There are no plans for a local blood drive. A drive was held in Atmore last Friday. Monroe said the local units and personnel were already scheduled for drives this week and, as of Tuesday afternoon, those had not changed.
