Bishop Tolton Frye, 81, of Atmore, died Wednesday, October 10, 2001, at his residence.
Bishop Frye was a native of Uriah and resident of Atmore. He was a retired general contractor and laborer, a military veteran and Bishop of Bethel A. F. M. Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alex Frye; his mother, Ethel Mims; biological father, Ralph Tolbert; three brothers, Ollie James Frye, George Tolbert and Leonard Tolbert Sr. and a sister, Lula Tolbert White.
Bishop Frye is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elder Minnie Lou Powers-Frye of Atmore; three daughters, Helen "Treta" Frye-Gorgoni of Manhattan, N. Y.; Mary Deloise Frye-Mincy of Yonkers, N. Y. and Minnie "Radiah" Frye-DeRoger and her husband, Alain, of Paris, France; two sons, Robert L. Frye and his wife, Dorothy and James E. Frye, all of Detroit, Mich.; a sister, Lizzie Frye of Atmore; a brother, Floyd Tolbert Sr. of Daphne; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 17 at Bethel A. F. M. Church of God at1 p.m.
Active pallbearers will be Robert C. Frye, Wayne Tolbert Sr., Eddie "Sonny" Powers, Fredric Miller, DeLaun Haulks and Scoey Suggs. Honorary pallbearers will be missionaries, ushers and friends.
Burial will be at Stallworth Cemetery.
Robinson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
