The Escambia Academy Cougars will play the Abbeville Christian Academy in the first round of their version of the 2A playoffs Friday night in Abbeville.
The Alabama Independent School Association game will be held
This will be the biggest game the Cougars will play this year. Either you win or you can go home and watch the playoffs there.
This is the Cougars first trip to the playoffs since 1998.
The Cougars also have extra motivation, because they would love to avenge on earlier 21-14 defeat to Abbeville earlier in the year.
The Cougars committed six turnovers in the loss, with two coming inside the Abbeville 10 yard-line.
The only bright spot in that game was Bradford Price. He racked up 119 yards on four kickoffs and 80 yards and a touchdown on 3 punt returns.
The Cougars are coming off of a thrilling 47-33 win over South Montgomery Academy last Friday night that put the Cougars into the playoffs.
The Cougars gained 339 yards rushing for the game. The offensive explosion was led by Kevin Adair and Dustin Roberts.
Adair and combined for 200 total yards of offense and seven touchdowns. Adair had 100 yards on 20 carries and five touchdowns, while Roberts had 100 yards on 21 carries and two touchdowns.
Abbeville runs their offense out of the Power I formation and the Spread formation.
On defense they will run a 4-4 defense and will try to blitz from every conceivable position to try to confuse the quarterback.
Through running down the sidelines, though, Cannon hopes to beat Abbeville with the outside game and the options.
And a successful threat to run can pay off big.
The game will be at Abbeville and game time will be at 7:30.
