The Escambia County boys and girls cross-country teams finished their fall season at the Metro-Mobile Christian/ Independent school championships at Municipal Park in Mobile last week.
The Lady Cougars won first place at the meet and the boys' team finished third.
The girls team won by a score of 49-50. In cross-country the scores are determined by the first five runners to cross the finish line.
If a runner finishes first he or she will receive one point, if a runner finishes fifth he or she will receive five points, and so on. Winners are determined by the fewest number of points.
The girls team consists of senior Brittany Boyte, senior Lauren Lyles, sophomore Terri Bumann, freshman Rayleen Miller, freshman Shelby Hester, freshman Ashleigh Arrington, freshman Wynne Channell, freshman Meagan Jackson, eight grader Lory Bonds, and seventh grader Morgan Dorreighty.
The girls team had two girls finish in the top ten in individual competition, Lauren Lyles and Rayleen Miller.
Lyles finished third, and Miller finished tenth.
The boys team also had two boys finish in the top ten in individual competition, Josh VanLandingham and Matt Ash.
Escambia Academy hosted its first track meet this year on October 6th. The meet was a big success with over 80 people running and countless others helping with concession and gates money.
This meet was one of five for the Cougars.
