Blue Devils rip Frisco City

The Escambia County Blue Devils boys basketball team ripped through the Frisco City boys team Friday night in Atmore.
The game was a momentum builder for the Devils to give them some confidence going into next weeks game against the state champion Blount Leopards.
The Devils won easily 63-31, thanks in large part to a tenacious defense.
The Devils kept Frisco City befuddled all night long, with a variety of defenses and a massive full court press.
For the beginning of the game, Frisco kept the game close by playing good defense thier ownselves.
Frisco's defense made the Devils take bad shots , and also created a lot of turnovers.
At the end of the first quarter, the Devils had the lead 14-8.
To start the second quarter, the Devils started a 10-2 run, closing with a monsterous slam dunk by Layton Knight to make the score 24-10.
The Devils finished the half scoring eight more points to Frisco's five, to make the score 32-15.
At the end of the half the leading scorers for the Devils were: Barrett Finney- 8points, Katral Johnson- 7points, Jeremy McCants- 6 points, and Kenny Clark- 4 points.
The leading rebounders for the Devils were: Barrett Finney with four, and Steve Moore with 3 rebounds.
The Devils came out of half-time with an offensive explosion, scoring eight unanswered points to make the score 40-15.
Frisco City then came back with an offensive explosion of their own, scoring five unanswered points to make the 40-20.
The Devils kept pulling away though, and took a 49-21 lead into the final quarter of play.
The fourth quarter was a defensive struggle, as both teams struggled to get anything going on offense.
The Devils finally mustered enough offense to hold Frisco back, and win the game 63-31.
Barrett Finney lead the Devils in points with 16. Layton Knight followed with 14 points. Katral Johnson also had 11 points in the win.
The leading rebounders for the Devils were Steve Moore, Barrett Finney, and Katral Johnson. Moore had eight rebounds, and Finney and Johnson both had seven rebounds apiece.
The Devils next game will be Tuesday night against the Blount Leopards.
The game will be in Blount, and the J.V. boys and girls will be playing along with the Varsity boys and girls.
