The Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the annual Twilight Christmas Parade Saturday in a day filled with activities and events.
The day starts with Breakfast with Santa, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Watson Cabin at Atmore Heritage Park and lasting until 11 a.m. According to Parade director Judy Pylate, area children are invited to attend the event for an $8 fee which includes breakfast and a photograph taken with Santa.
The lineup for the children's parade will begin at 12:45 in an event Pylate said has a lot of potential for fun.
This year, no powered vehicles are will be permitted in the Children's Parade.
Lineup begins at the corner of Main Street and Church Street in downtown Atmore and the parade will begin at 1:30 p.m.
Sign-up sheets for children interested in participating in the parade are available at the Chamber of Commerce office, Greg's Beauty Salon and at local schools, Pylate said.
At 3:30 p.m., lineup for the Christmas Twilight Parade begins in front of City Hall.
The parade will begin at 5 p.m. and proceed west on Ridgeley Street to Main Street where it will turn south and head down to Lindberg Street and then turn east. The parade will wind down across Presley and will come to rest near the water tower behind Escambia County High School.
Pylate said she expects the parade to conclude well after dark.
Once the parade has run its course, there will be a gathering at Atmore City Hall for the lighting of the Community Christmas Tree. Pylate expects this to take place around 7:30 p.m.
Other coordinators for the event are Robin Byrd who is handling Breakfast with Santa ad Tracy Miller and Janet Ward who are responsible for the Children's Parade.
According to Pylate, entertainment, including a planned street dance, will highlight the day as well. The entertainment for the event is being put together by Randall Adams.
