Tawana Thomas is at it again.
Thomas, owner of James Wilson Christian Bookstore, is freely giving Christmas toys to the needy, just as she did earlier in the year when she donated hundreds of bags of school supplies just before school.
"I used to do this every year in Texas," Thomas said. "I'm not in Texas anymore, but I decided I wanted to do it here this year."
Thomas has bought over 250 toys that she will place in bags and hand out in front of her store Saturday.
Thomas asks that anyone wishing to donate toys may drop them off by her store. She encourages local businesses to donate as well.
"I wish I could hand out more, but that's all I can do," Thomas said. "It would be wonderful to get the rest of the community involved."
She requests that only those truly in need or those who know someone in need this Christmas come by and get a toy.
"These toys are only for the kids who are really in need this Christmas," Thomas said. "I also plan to include a small bible or religious toy. After all, Jesus is the reason for the season."
Why does she do it? Thomas says the answer is simple.
"I love people," Thomas said. "And I love children. We have to learn how to just give. And there's nothing I love more than giving."
Thomas said that she will begin passing out toys in front of her store, located at 103 North Main St. this Saturday, Dec. 22, starting at 10 a.m.
Thomas says she also has plans to play santa for a day.
Thomas plans to begin offering tutoring sessions beginning next month. For more information, contact Thomas at 368-4453.
