Flag culprits found guilty

David Lee Vickery, 26, and Micah Jack Guyton, 28, of Atmore were recently found guilty of third degree theft of property. Guyton was also found guilty of public intoxication.
The two will serve no jail time, but were fined $100 plus $191 court cost charge, as wella as one-year unsupervised probation. Guyton also received a $25 fine and $191 court cost charge for the pubic intoxication charge.
The two were arrested on Oct. 11, 2001, by Atmore Police after stealing two American flags from a storefront on Main Street.
McKinley said that he hopes the arrests and conviction will send a message to people that the Atmore Police Department is serious about theft in general and about preserving the integrity of the flag by respecting it and those who fly it.
The court date was originally set for Novemebr 9, but was pushed back.
