Minister Tchernavia Williams, 65, died Tuesday, January 8, 2002, at her residence.
She was a native of Atmore and resident for the past several years. She was a graduate of Escambia Training School and attended Selma University in Selma. As a member of Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church she was a member of the church ministry, missionary society and bible class. She was retired as a EEO Specialist with the U. S. Government at Fort Richardson, Ark.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Williams; her mother, Leathea Mae Johnson and her father, Floyd Dockery.
Minister Williams is survived by two daughters, Janet Benson and her husband, Cecil, of Anchorage, Alaska and Lori Taylor and her husband, Tony, of Atmore; three brothers, Jerry Dockery, Joseph Dockery and Palmo Dockery and his wife, Bernice, all of Mobile and five grandchildren..
Funeral services were held Monday, January 14 at 7 p.m. at Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church with the Rev. A. L. Durant Sr. and the Rev. A. Patterson officiating.
Burial was at Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers were deacons of the church, friends and family.
Turner Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
