It's that time of year again Relay Time.
And this year promises to be bigger and better than ever.
Recently the Escambia County Relay for Life program was honored as the number seven fund raiser per capita in the nation, a huge honor according to Judy Pylate with the program.
"We have one of the best programs in the nation," Pylate said.
Besides receiving the honor for one of the top 10 programs in the nation, the Escambia County Relay also was named one of the top 5 in the state.
Last year the Relay raised over $130,000, with about $5 per capita in Escambia County.
This years goal is even more ambitious. Relay is hoping to raise $140,000 with 22 teams.
It's going to be a tough battle to fight, but organizers are sure of this years programs success.
This year will see the return of Relay Bucks, which according to organizers were very popular last year.
Teams gain relay bucks by completing assigned tasks, such as signing up members or participating in activities. The team with the most Relay Bucks will be declared the winner at the annual Relay post celebration.
Kickoff for this years Relay events is scheduled for February 21. For more information contact Judy Pylate at 368-6171 or 368-2106.
